What are your Three favorite things about Capoeira?
“You get a nifty nickname.  There’s something endearing sbout any activity that yields nicknames to people meant to poke fun, explore quirks, and welcome people into a new ‘family.’”

“For me, Capoeira is somewhat of an oxymoron in that it provides a peaceful way to express violence… to transform it into something else- something sublime.”

I am in awe of how capoeira reflects shifting and changeable freedom- of spirit, movement, art, expression, joy- and how it provides a model to overcome limitations.”

What are your three favorite things about CAQ?
“It’s a safe place to begin.  Mestre Ombrinho has built a nest where people can thrive and personal evolution can hatch”

“Mestre Ombrinho brings a different voice to the discipline of Capoeira.  Because he is the first non-Brazilian master, he is able to translate the nuances of Capoeira’s complex language in a variety of ways that are clear, deep, and often comical.”

“I have trained with many other groups and what I love about CAQ, that I don’t find anywhere else, is that Mestre Ombrinho actively demonstrates each movement, sequence, technique, each song, and aspect of Capoeira himself!  There is nothing more rewarding than having Capoeira’s history, humor, and mechanics revealed by a master like Mestre Ombrinho.”
